Privacy Policy

What We Collect

Palendar collects minimal information to provide our scheduling service:

• Names you provide: Poll creator names and voter names (optional but recommended for transparency)
• Poll data: Event titles, descriptions, and selected dates
• Vote data: Which dates you voted for
• Browser storage: We store a vote ID in your browser's localStorage so you can edit your vote later
• Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how people use Palendar (page views, anonymous usage patterns)

What We DON'T Collect

• Email addresses
• Phone numbers
• Payment information
• Passwords (we don't have user accounts!)
• Location data

How We Use Your Data

We use your information to:

• Display polls and voting results
• Allow you to edit your votes
• Show transparent voting (who voted for which dates)
• Improve the Palendar service

Data Storage

Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) and is retained indefinitely unless you request deletion. Polls and votes do not automatically expire.

Data Sharing

We do NOT sell your data. Period.

By design, Palendar is transparent - voter names are visible to anyone with the poll link. This is intentional to help groups coordinate. We do not share data with third parties except for:

• Firebase (Google) for data storage
• Google Analytics for anonymous usage statistics
• Netlify for hosting

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Edit your vote (if you still have access to the original device/browser)
• Request deletion of your data
• Know what data we have about you

Cookies & LocalStorage

We use browser localStorage to remember your vote ID so you can edit your vote later. This data stays on your device and is only sent to our servers when you edit your vote. We also use cookies via Google Analytics to understand site usage.

Children's Privacy

Palendar is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We'll post the updated version on this page with a new "Last updated" date.

Email Notifications

If you provide your email when creating a poll, we use it to:

• Notify you when someone votes on your poll
• Nothing else - we don't send marketing emails or share it with anyone

Your email is stored securely in Firebase and never displayed publicly. You can opt out by not providing an email when creating a poll.

Unsubscribing from Notifications

Every notification email includes an unsubscribe link. Clicking it will:

• Stop all future email notifications for that specific poll
• Remove your email address from our database for that poll
• Not affect the poll itself or your ability to view results

We also limit notifications to once every 10 minutes to prevent spam, even if multiple people vote in quick succession.
